Cedar barrel sauna on a stone patio in a backyard garden

What Gyms Have Saunas? Every Major Chain Checked (2026)

Short answer: Life Time, Equinox, LA Fitness, Gold's Gym, Crunch, Chuze, VASA, EoS and many 24 Hour Fitness and YMCA locations have saunas. Planet Fitness does not list a sauna or steam room at all, and studio brands like Orangetheory are built around classes, not locker room amenities. Sauna access depends on the individual club, so always confirm with the location before you join.

We checked each chain's own website and club pages in October 2026 and link to what we found, so you can see the source. Gym amenities change, clubs remodel, and franchises differ, so treat this as a starting point and verify with your club.

Does Planet Fitness have a sauna?

No. Planet Fitness does not list a sauna or a steam room among its amenities. Its membership page says Classic memberships start at $15 a month and PF Black Card starts at $24.99 a month, plus an annual fee of $49. The Black Card adds massage chairs, HydroMassage, tanning, the Total Body Enhancement booth, a Wellness Pod and a Recovery Lounge, but only at participating locations. If heat is what you want, none of these replace a sauna.

Gyms with saunas, chain by chain

Life Time

Life Time is the most reliable choice if you want sauna, steam and cold plunge in one place. Its membership page mentions hydrotherapy suites and infrared saunas, and its saunas and steam rooms sit in what it calls Rejuvenation Suites. In January 2025, Life Time announced cold plunges for more than 70 more clubs, on top of more than 20 it already had, across a network of more than 175 clubs. It is also one of the most expensive gyms in this list, and Life Time says amenities vary by location.

Equinox

Many Equinox clubs have saunas and a steam room. The Chestnut Hill club page, for example, lists separate men's and women's saunas and a steam room. Each Equinox club has its own amenity list, so check the club you would use most.

LA Fitness and Esporta Fitness

LA Fitness lists a sauna on its pool and spa page, along with pools and spas at many clubs, and adds that "amenities may not be available at all locations". It does not list a steam room. Esporta Fitness clubs run under the LA Fitness umbrella: LA Fitness rebranded 17 Phoenix-area clubs as Esporta in 2020, and some Esporta clubs have since returned to the LA Fitness name. Amenities follow the club, not the sign.

24 Hour Fitness

The 24 Hour Fitness site lists "Sauna & Recovery" and "Pool and Spa" among its amenities. Its membership pages also note that amenities like saunas vary by location, and access depends on the club type and membership level. Ask the club which membership includes the sauna before you sign.

Gold's Gym

Many Gold's Gym clubs have both a sauna and a steam room. Club pages such as San Antonio Alamo Heights and Evans, Georgia list both. Most Gold's Gyms are franchised, so the next club over may be different.

Crunch Fitness

Crunch says its Crunch Signature gyms come standard with saunas and steam rooms, and the E 34th St club in Manhattan lists both. Many franchise Crunch Fitness clubs have them too. The Plano, Texas club lists dry saunas in its locker rooms, included with every membership, while its Relax & Recover area (HydroMassage, Cryobeds, tanning) comes with the Peak Results plan. Crunch McKinney, Frisco, Allen and Garland also list saunas and steam rooms. Crunch does not list a cold plunge.

VASA Fitness and EoS Fitness

VASA lists sauna and steam, a hot tub and a cold plunge, and says amenities vary by location. EoS Fitness lists a sauna and steam room as essential amenities, plus a hot tub, and says amenities vary by location.

YMCA

Each YMCA is run by its local association, so saunas and steam rooms vary from branch to branch. The national organization notes the Y runs about 2,000 pools, and branches with pools are the ones most likely to have a sauna or steam room. Call your local Y and ask.

Chuze Fitness

Chuze Fitness lists an infrared sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, HydroMassage and tanning beds among its amenities, with pools at many clubs. Basic memberships start at $9.99 a month, and Chuze says amenities come with its higher plans and differ by location.

Anytime Fitness and Orangetheory

Anytime Fitness clubs are small 24/7 franchise gyms, and each owner chooses its own extras. Some have added infrared saunas: the Gretna, Louisiana club lists an infrared sauna and red light therapy. We did not find steam rooms or cold plunges. Orangetheory is a class studio, and its FAQ describes treadmills, rowers and weights rather than saunas.

How to check if your gym has a sauna

  • Read the club page, not the brand page. Chains list amenities per club, and the brand homepage often shows the best-equipped club.
  • Ask which membership includes it. Some chains tie saunas to a higher tier or a specific club type.
  • Ask about hours and rules. Saunas can close early for cleaning, have age limits, or be in the locker room only.
  • Visit at your usual time. A day pass or trial at the hour you would train shows you how busy the sauna gets.

Gym sauna vs home sauna: what does each cost?

A gym sauna is a shared room you pay for every month, whether you use it or not. A home sauna is a one-time purchase plus electricity. Here is the simple math, using membership levels as examples.

Monthly membership Per year Over 5 years
$40 $480 $2,400
$80 $960 $4,800
$200 $2,400 $12,000

Annual fees and taxes come on top. For comparison, a compact 1-person infrared sauna like the Canadian Hemlock Mini starts around $1,157 on our site, a wood-fired portable sauna tent starts at $599, and outdoor traditional saunas run from a few thousand dollars up. Use our sauna running cost calculator to estimate electricity for your rate.

A gym still wins if you use the rest of the club every week, want classes and a pool, or have no space at home. A home sauna wins on privacy, no commute, your own temperature and session length, and use at any hour. If you are weighing it up, start with our sauna buying guide and the sauna size calculator.

Which type of home sauna is closest to a gym sauna?

Most gym saunas are traditional saunas: an electric heater with stones that heats the room air, with the temperature set by the club (see our sauna temperature guide for typical ranges). If that is the feel you like, look at traditional saunas or outdoor saunas. Infrared saunas run cooler, plug in more easily and suit indoor spaces. Our guide to infrared saunas vs steam rooms explains the difference, and if you also use a cold plunge at the gym, the contrast therapy guide covers doing both at home.

Frequently asked questions

Does Planet Fitness have a sauna?

No. Planet Fitness does not list a sauna or steam room. PF Black Card members get massage chairs, HydroMassage and other recovery perks at participating clubs instead.

Does LA Fitness have a sauna?

Many LA Fitness clubs have a sauna, and many have a pool and spa. LA Fitness notes that amenities may not be available at all locations, so check your club.

Does 24 Hour Fitness have a sauna?

Some clubs do. 24 Hour Fitness lists sauna and recovery as an amenity, but availability depends on the club and your membership level.

Which gyms have a sauna and a cold plunge?

Life Time has cold plunges at more than 90 clubs alongside its saunas and steam rooms, and VASA lists a cold plunge at some locations. Cold plunges are still rare at most other chains.

Does the YMCA have a sauna?

Some branches do. Each YMCA is run locally, so saunas, steam rooms and pools vary by branch.

What is the difference between a gym sauna and a steam room?

A sauna uses dry heat from a heater and stones, usually at a higher temperature with low humidity. A steam room runs cooler but near 100 percent humidity. Many gyms have one or the other, and premium clubs often have both.

Is a home sauna cheaper than a gym membership?

It depends on the sauna and the membership. At $80 a month, a membership costs $960 a year, so a compact infrared sauna can cost less than two years of dues. A gym also gives you equipment and classes, so compare what you would actually use.
