Who should buy the LYS4000
The LYS4000 is the better fit for a smaller patio or deck and for couples or small families. It has a double lounger with two depths, 20 adjustable jets, Bluetooth speakers and LED lighting, and the product page says it can be field-converted to 240V if you later want more heating power. The ozone filtration is paired with a UV-C ready system, though the 18 W UV bulb is sold separately.
Who should buy the LYS4500
The LYS4500 suits a household that wants room for five or six. It has deep corner seats and two higher middle seats, so people sit at different depths, plus 18 adjustable jets with air controls. It is the heavier tub, at 2,850 lb filled, so base planning matters more. It is also the lower price of the two on our site.
Power, base and delivery
Both tubs are listed as plug and play: a dedicated 120V, 15A outlet on a GFCI-protected circuit, with no new 240V circuit needed. Our 120V vs 240V plug and play guide explains what that means for heat-up time and cold weather. Both listings recommend a flat, level base that supports at least 150 lb per square foot, such as a 4 to 6 inch poured concrete pad, which our guide on whether you need a concrete slab covers.
Delivery is curbside, meaning the spa is set down at the curb or driveway, so plan help or equipment to move it to its pad. Inspect it on arrival. Liberty hot tubs are final sale, so measure your access path first. For help with footprint and seating, see what size hot tub you need and how much a hot tub costs.
Need more seats or power?
If both feel small, the Liberty LYS5000 is the larger 6 person model from $6,500, and our comparison of the LYS6000 and LYS7000 covers the top of the range.
Choosing by household
A couple, or a family of four, with a compact deck usually points to the LYS4000: you get a double lounger, 20 jets and a smaller 84 by 60 inch footprint, and the option to convert to 240V later. A household that entertains, or that wants five or six seats, usually points to the LYS4500, which gives up some jets for more seating and a square 78 by 78 inch footprint. If you cannot decide, measure the space where the tub will sit with the access path included, because a tub that cannot be carried or craned to the pad is the one problem a spec table will not show.
Questions to settle before you order
Liberty hot tubs are final sale, so settle these first. Does the outlet you plan to use sit on a dedicated, GFCI-protected 120V, 15A circuit? Is the base flat and level and able to support the filled weight, 2,050 lb for the LYS4000 or 2,850 lb for the LYS4500? Can a delivery truck reach the curb or driveway, and can you move the tub from there to the pad with help or equipment? Is there clearance around the tub for the cover and for service access? If any answer is unclear, call us at (945) 280-3243 and we will talk it through before you order.
Both listings also include a hardtop cover, and an antimicrobial filter set, and delivery is curbside in the contiguous U.S. Always check the product page for what is included at the time you order.
