Description

The Icetubs IceBarrel XL is the wider version of the IceBarrel: a one-person upright cold plunge with a 35.1 inch interior, about 113.6 gallons of water and a Thermowood exterior. Its cooling and heating engine runs on a standard 110V outlet, and it suits a patio, garage or home gym for taller or broader users.

Cooling and heating engine

The 1 HP engine cools the water to 37.4°F and can warm it to 100.4°F, so the same tub works for a cold plunge or a warm soak. Set the temperature on the engine panel or in the Icetubs app. Icetubs states the 3-stage filtration and built-in ozone system turn the water over about every 6 minutes while the pump runs.

Build and stairs

The XL pairs Thermowood cladding with a white fiberglass shell and an insulated Thermo cover. Order it without stairs, or with the stair package that adds two steps and stainless handrails.

What you need to know before buying

  • It runs on a standard 110V/60Hz grounded outlet and draws up to 14.5 A. The power cable has a built-in circuit breaker that is water-resistant, not waterproof, so protect it from rain outdoors.
  • Fill it with a garden hose; no plumbing is required. A Gardena hose attachment and drain valve make draining easier.
  • Place it on a level surface that can carry the filled weight, with good ventilation around the engine. Icetubs lists an ambient range of 23°F to 104°F.
  • Replace the filters on schedule and use only chlorine and bromine-free water treatment, per the Icetubs manual.
  • Filled, it weighs about 1,321 lb (1,374 lb with stairs), so check your deck or floor can carry it.

In the box

Per the Icetubs manual: IceBarrel XL, cooling engine with connectors and seals, engine protector, Thermo cover XL with clips, Gardena hose attachment set and filters. The stairs option adds two steps, two handrails and screws.

What delivery looks like

A shrink-wrapped pallet of cartons left at the end of a driveway by a freight truck
Freight items arrive shrink-wrapped on a pallet. The carrier schedules the drop-off and leaves it at the curb or end of your driveway, so plan help or a dolly to move it from there. Example photo of a typical delivery. Your packaging may look different.

Who should not cold plunge?
Talk with your doctor first if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or are pregnant. Start with short sessions and never plunge alone or after alcohol.
