Description
The Mr. Steam MX5R2401 is a 24kW Max Series residential steam shower generator for 240V single-phase service, sized by Mr. Steam for steam rooms with an adjusted volume of 679 to 822 cubic feet. It is built with a stainless steel tank and a large, serviceable heating element, and it is assembled by Mr. Steam in Long Island City, New York. It fits large home steam rooms and spa-style showers where a single high-output generator is preferred. An Express Steam version is listed as MX5R2401X.

What you need to know before buying
- Hardwired 240V appliance: a licensed electrician must install it on a dedicated circuit breaker with a disconnect within sight of the generator, per the National Electrical Code and local code. A licensed plumber handles the water, steam and drain lines.
- A Mr. Steam control (iSteamX, TempoTouch, TempoFlex or iTempo) and a steamhead are required and sold separately. See steam shower generators and components.
- Size by steam room cubic feet and wall material, per Mr. Steam: start with length x width x height, add 50% for natural stone, marble, glass block or concrete, subtract 40% for acrylic or fiberglass, and add 15% for each foot of ceiling above 8 ft. This model covers 679 to 822 cu ft adjusted.
- Install upright on a solid, level surface (the Max series is not wall hung), within 60 ft of the steam room, in a ventilated space. Do not install inside a vanity, under the steam room bench, outdoors, or anywhere water could freeze. Mr. Steam recommends 18 in of service clearance on the left, 21 in above and 24 in in front.
- Optional Mr. Steam add-ons include AutoFlush, the Max Drip Pan (104402), ChromaSteam and AromaSteam. Max series generators are for residential use only.
Warranty
Mr. Steam limited lifetime warranty on the generator, including 2 years in-home, for residential use.
Returns
Returns accepted within 30 days of delivery for unused, uninstalled items in original sealed packaging. Return shipping is paid by the buyer, and a restocking fee of up to 15% may apply (up to 50% if packaging is missing or the seal is broken). Installed items are handled as manufacturer warranty claims.
