The Penguin Chillers 5.0 Ton Split Commercial Water Chiller delivers 60,000 BTU/hr of cooling in an outdoor-rated, pad-mount-ready unit on a stainless steel frame. Penguin builds its commercial water chillers for high-capacity water cooling, including commercial cold therapy: recovery rooms, training facilities and other high-volume cold water setups. For a gym, team facility, clinic or spa running a large plunge pool or several plunges, it is the step up from Penguin's 120V chillers.

This is a split system. It comes as two units, a condenser and an evaporator (the water-side heat exchanger with the temperature controller), connected on site with refrigerant lines. Professional installation required: Penguin requires a licensed HVAC professional to hook up this split system.

It has no built-in pump. Plan an external pump (Penguin recommends a Danner 2,400 to 3,600 GPH) and a measured flow of 1,200 to 2,500 GPH. A built-in flow switch shuts the chiller off if the pump fails. The controller reads the incoming water temperature and cycles the compressor to hold your set point, so water must flow at all times.

Electrical: 208 to 240V, single phase, 35.6A, 8,544W. Penguin lists no power cord for this unit, so plan a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician.

Sizing: the right size depends on water volume, target temperature, insulation, sun, air temperature and how many people use the pool. Penguin's rule is to size up when in doubt. Contact us before ordering and we will help confirm the size for your pool.

Heat exchanger options

• PVC shell, copper coil: general-purpose water cooling; working pressure up to 10 PSI.
• PVC shell, titanium coil: highly corrosion resistant, for systems where copper exposure is a concern; up to 10 PSI.
• 316 stainless steel shell and coil: for higher-pressure systems, up to 50 PSI.

If you plan to use a pool or spa pump, or any pump rated in horsepower, check pressure compatibility with us first (PVC shells).

Full shipping policy

Chillers and accessories arrive by parcel carrier. Complete plunges may need help to move into place, so check the weight on the Specifications tab. Inspect the box when it arrives, note any damage, and tell us within 48 hours so we can resolve it for you; damaged or defective units are repaired or replaced.

Before setup, read the setup notes in the description: chiller placement relative to the tub drain matters for proper operation.

1-year Penguin Chillers manufacturer warranty included.

1-year Penguin Chillers warranty from the ship date, with optional 2- or 3-year extended coverage where offered. If you pair a Penguin chiller with a tub as a set, a photo of the finished setup may be needed to validate warranty coverage, and we will walk you through it. Restore Suite is your first contact for any question.

Returns: request a return within 21 days of delivery; every return needs pre-approval. Approved returns carry a 20% restocking fee, and you pay return shipping. Custom units cannot be returned.
