Liberty Spas LYS6000 6-person hot tub, white shell and brown cabinet

Best Hot Tub for Home (2026): Liberty Spas Models Compared

The best hot tub for most homes is a 4 to 7 person spa that matches your electrical service and your pad, not the one with the most jets. If you want to skip an electrician, a 120V plug-and-play model is the easiest path. If you want faster heating and more seats, a 240V spa with a larger heater and pump is worth the extra wiring.

How to Choose the Best Hot Tub for Your Home

1. Start with who will use it

Count the people who will use it most nights, not the biggest party you might host. Two to four regular users are well served by a 4 to 6 person spa. If you have a family of five or more, or you want everyone to have a seat with jets, look at the 6 and 7 person models. Our guide to what size hot tub you need goes deeper on footprint and seating.

2. Pick the seat layout, then the jet count

A lounger lets one person stretch out fully, while captain's chairs give deeper, more supportive seats. The LYS6000 pairs a full-length lounger with two captain's chairs. The LYS7000 trades the lounger for open bench seating so seven people fit. Jet count follows seat design: more seats with more coverage means more jets.

3. Match it to your electrical service

This is the decision that changes your total cost the most. A 120V plug-and-play spa needs a dedicated 120V, 15A GFCI outlet. A 240V spa needs a dedicated 240V, 50A GFCI-protected circuit run by a licensed electrician, and the cost of that run depends on the distance from your panel to the pad. See plug and play hot tub: 120V vs 240V for the full comparison.

4. Check the footprint and the filled weight

Measure the spot, including room to remove the cover and reach the equipment panel. Filled weights run from about 2,050 lb for the LYS4000 to about 3,500 lb for the LYS7000, so the base has to be rated for it.

5. Budget for the full setup

The spa price is only part of it. Add the pad, any electrical work, chemicals and accessories. Our hot tub cost guide breaks down setup costs, and which hot tub to stay away from covers the warning signs to avoid.

120V Plug-and-Play vs 240V: Which Is Better?

Neither is better for everyone. A 120V spa costs less to install because there is no new circuit, and it suits buyers who keep the water covered at temperature. Its 1.5 kW heater heats more slowly, and on 120V the heater and the jets may not run at full power at the same time. A 240V spa with a 5.5 kW heater recovers heat faster after use and runs the jets and heater together, which matters for longer soaks and cooler climates. The LYS4000 is the middle ground: it runs on 120V now and can be field-converted to 240V later.

Site Prep and Delivery

Liberty asks for a flat, level base rated for at least 150 lb per square foot, such as a 4 to 6 inch concrete pad. Pour it before the spa ships. Delivery is curbside: the spa is set down at the curb or driveway, so plan people or equipment to move it to the pad, and report any shipping damage within 48 hours.

Warranty and Returns

Liberty Spas provides a manufacturer warranty of 5 or 10 years on the structure and 1 or 2 years on the surface and equipment, depending on the model. It covers parts only; travel and on-site service charges are not included. Liberty Spas hot tubs are final sale, so ask us any questions about fit, power or delivery before you order. The Verdict

For a simple install with no electrician, choose the LYS4000 for four people or the LYS4500 for up to six. If you can run a 240V circuit, the LYS5000 is the best value, and the LYS6000 and LYS7000 add more jets and seating at the same price, so choose by layout: a lounger or a seventh seat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best hot tub for home use?

The best hot tub for home use is the one that fits your seating needs, your electrical service and your pad. For two to four people with no electrician, a 120V plug-and-play model like the Liberty Spas LYS4000 is the simplest choice. For six or seven people who want faster heating and more jets, a 240V model like the LYS6000 or LYS7000 is the better fit.

Is a plug-and-play hot tub worth it?

A plug-and-play hot tub is worth it if you want to skip a 240V electrical run. It plugs into a dedicated 120V, 15A GFCI outlet. The trade-off is a smaller heater, so it heats up more slowly and works best kept covered at temperature.

How many jets should a hot tub have?

More jets is not automatically better. Seat design matters more. A well-placed 18 to 20 jets covers a 4 to 6 person tub, while 34 to 46 jets on a larger 240V tub gives each seat more targeted coverage.

What do I need before a hot tub is delivered?

You need a flat, level base that can carry the filled weight, such as a 4 to 6 inch concrete pad, and the right outlet or circuit. Liberty Spas 240V models need a dedicated 240V, 50A GFCI-protected circuit installed by a licensed electrician. Delivery is curbside, so plan help or equipment to move the spa to the pad.

Can I return a hot tub?

Liberty Spas hot tubs are final sale, so please ask us any questions about size, power or delivery before you order.

Does a hot tub come with a cover?

Yes. Every Liberty Spas model we carry includes a tapered hardtop cover: a 3 in to 2 in cover on the LYS4500 and a 5 in to 3 in cover on the other models, which also lock on the 240V tubs. Check each product page for the exact cover and filter set included.
