Harvia Sauna Heaters Compared: Which Model Fits?
Share
The best Harvia sauna heater is the one whose output matches your sauna's room volume, in a shape and control style that suits your layout. For most home saunas that means a 6 to 9 kW electric model. This guide compares the heaters in our Harvia sauna heater collection so you can narrow the list before you order.
All specifications below come from our live product pages. Prices change, so check the product page for the current price.
The short answer: output first, then shape
Every Harvia heater we sell is rated for a maximum room volume. Pick the output that covers your room, then decide between a floor-standing pillar, a wall-mount, a compact box or a large commercial-style heater. If you are not sure of your numbers, start with our guide to what size sauna heater you need or run your room through the sauna size calculator. Our general sauna heater buying guide covers electric versus wood and what to check in any brand.

Small cabins and tight floor plans: KIP and The Wall
The KIP is the smallest option, starting at 3 kW for rooms up to 130 cubic feet, so it suits a compact one or two person room. The casing stays cool to the touch while running, and it comes with a panel that mounts outside the sauna plus a WiFi module for the MyHarvia phone app. If floor space is the issue, The Wall hangs on the wall with included brackets and holds 44 lb of stones. Its control sits in the top of the heater and can be set up on the left or right.
Home saunas with a lot of stone: Cilindro PC
The Cilindro PC is a pillar heater that takes about 200 lb of stones in direct contact with the elements. Because the shape is narrow, it fits against a sidewall or in a corner. It is listed for rooms from 141 to 494 cubic feet across the range, with controls built into the heater, so there is no separate panel to mount. It is a good fit when you want a classic look and a simple setup.
What are the differences between Harvia Spirit and Virta sauna heaters?
The Virta is a floor-standing heater built from stainless steel with industrial-grade heating elements, and it is listed in four outputs from 6 to 10.5 kW, covering rooms up to 635 cubic feet. The Spirit uses an open steel-rod basket that holds a large load of rounded stones, and it is listed in 6, 8 and 9 kW. Both include the Xenio digital control, a WiFi remote and stones, both are made in Finland, and both run a dry or wet sauna.
In practice the choice comes down to size and look. If your room is large and needs 10.5 kW, the Virta range is the one that reaches it. If you like the open stone basket and your room falls in the 6 to 9 kW range, the Spirit is worth a look. Check the product page for the room volume that matches your output before you order.
Larger saunas and shared rooms: Club Deluxe
The Club Deluxe is a stainless steel heater in 10, 12.5 and 15 kW for rooms up to 989 cubic feet. It is offered for 240V single phase (home) or 208V three phase (commercial) supply, so have your electrician confirm the circuit before you buy. It needs a Harvia Xenio control and at least 132 lb of stones. The product photos show the control and stones, but ask us to confirm what is included in your order.
Controls, WiFi and safety
Several models pair with the Xenio control, and most listed Xenio bundles include a WiFi remote or module so you can preheat from your phone. The Spirit and Virta pages list a 60-minute automatic shut-off and temperature safety sensors, and the KIP lists a 60 minute shutoff as well. Read each product page for what is included, because the control is part of the bundle on some models and a separate requirement on others.
Electrical planning before you order
Output in kW decides the circuit, so check it before you commit to a model. Our sauna electrical requirements guide explains the basics, and the sauna breaker size calculator helps you plan the breaker. A licensed electrician should confirm wiring against the manufacturer manual and local code.
Prefer wood? Harvia wood-burning stoves
If you want a fire in the room, the wood-burning sauna stoves collection includes Harvia models such as the M3 16.5kW stove, the Linear 22 GreenFlame 15.7kW stove and the Pro 20 SL 24.1kW through-wall stove. Chimney, clearances and ventilation matter more with wood than with electric, so read our wood-burning sauna buying guide and electric or wood-burning sauna comparison first.
How to pick: a quick checklist
- Measure your sauna room and calculate cubic feet.
- Choose the output whose listed room volume covers it, without going under.
- Decide on shape: pillar, wall-mount, compact box or large floor-standing.
- Check whether the control and stones come with the heater.
- Confirm your electrical supply, 240V single phase for most homes.
- Compare the options side by side in our electric sauna heaters collection or the full sauna heaters collection.

Frequently asked questions
Which Harvia sauna heater is best for a home sauna?
There is no single best model. Match the output to your room volume first, then choose the shape and control you prefer. For most home saunas that means a 6 to 9 kW electric heater such as the Cilindro PC, KIP, Spirit or Virta.
What are the differences between Harvia Spirit and Virta sauna heaters?
The Virta is a floor-standing stainless steel heater listed in four outputs from 6 to 10.5 kW, with room volumes up to 635 cubic feet. The Spirit has an open steel-rod stone basket and is listed in 6, 8 and 9 kW. Both come with a Xenio control, WiFi remote and stones, and both are made in Finland.
How do I choose the right kW for my sauna?
Work out the cubic feet of your sauna room (length times width times height), then pick the output whose listed room volume covers it. Do not undersize, since an undersized heater struggles to reach temperature. Our sauna size calculator helps with the math.
Can I mount a Harvia heater on the wall?
Yes. Harvia The Wall is a wall-mounted electric heater in 6 and 8 kW, with mounting brackets included, which keeps the floor clear in a small cabin.
Do Harvia electric heaters come with stones?
Most of the heaters we list include stones. The Club Deluxe is the exception to check: confirm with us whether the control and stones are included before you order.
Does Restore Suite sell Harvia wood-burning sauna stoves?
Yes. Browse the wood-burning sauna stoves collection for M3, Legend, Linear and Pro 20 models. Have your chimney and clearance plan checked against the manufacturer manual and local code.
Which Harvia wood stove has the lowest output?
Among the main models we list, the Linear 22 GreenFlame is rated at 15.7 kW, with the M3 and Legend 240 close behind at 16.5 kW and 15.9 kW. Check each product page for room size guidance before you choose.
