Description
The Penguin Chillers 1 1/2 HP Water Chiller is a general-purpose water chiller with 15,000 BTU/hr of cooling capacity. Penguin builds it for aquariums, hydroponics and process cooling, with the pump and plumbing chosen separately.
Penguin's largest 120V chiller, for big tubs, multiple users or warm climates. Choose a PVC shell with titanium coil, or a 316 stainless steel shell and coil.
Looking for a cold plunge chiller? For cold plunges, Penguin recommends its Cold Therapy Chiller, which has a built-in pump and is rated for outdoor use above freezing. This standard chiller is for indoor use only, has no pump and needs at least 250 GPH of measurable flow, so it is built for aquarium, hydroponic and process cooling setups. Not sure which fits? Setup notes from Penguin
- Needs a separate water pump and tubing (not included). Penguin recommends a Danner Mag Drive 5 to 18 pump; any pump used must be rated under 10 PSI / 23 ft max head.
- Water must flow continuously while the chiller runs. Unplug the chiller before stopping the flow.
- Condensation can form depending on water temperature and room humidity, so plan the location.

Shipping
Free shipping from Knoxville, Tennessee, to the 48 contiguous U.S. states. Most chillers ship within 2 to 5 business days (see the product description for this model's lead time), and tracking is emailed when it ships.
Delivery
Chillers and accessories arrive by parcel carrier. Complete plunges may need help to move into place, so check the weight on the Specifications tab. Inspect the box when it arrives, note any damage, and tell us within 48 hours so we can resolve it for you; damaged or defective units are repaired or replaced.
Before setup, read the setup notes in the description: chiller placement relative to the tub drain matters for proper operation.
Warranty
1-year Penguin Chillers manufacturer warranty included; 2- and 3-year extended coverage available where offered.
1-year Penguin Chillers warranty from the ship date, with optional 2- or 3-year extended coverage where offered. If you pair a Penguin chiller with a tub as a set, a photo of the finished setup may be needed to validate warranty coverage, and we will walk you through it. Restore Suite is your first contact for any question.
Returns: request a return within 21 days of delivery; every return needs pre-approval. Approved returns carry a 20% restocking fee, and you pay return shipping. Custom units cannot be returned.

- This chiller has no pump. You need a separate pump and tubing giving at least 250 GPH of measured flow; Penguin recommends a Danner Mag Drive 5 to 18, rated under 10 PSI / 23 ft max head.
- Water must flow the whole time it runs, so unplug the chiller before you stop the pump. Condensation can form with cold water and humid air; place it where drips will not damage anything.
- This standard model is rated for indoor use only. For an outdoor plunge, Penguin recommends its Cold Therapy Chiller, which has a built-in pump and is rated outdoors above 32°F.
- This is Penguin's largest 120V chiller at 15,000 BTU/hr, drawing 11A and 1,270W. Give it a circuit without other big loads, since that is a big share of a standard 15A circuit.
- At 26.5 x 23.75 x 18 in and 96 lb (100 lb stainless), it is much bigger than the 1 HP units. Plan a solid, ventilated spot near the tub before it arrives.
